  • Allow at least 24 hours for your candle to fully cure. To achieve optimal fragrance impact, allow the candle to sit for at least 2 weeks before burning.
  • Do not burn your candle (or any candle) for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Never leave your candle unattended!
  • Upon first burning the candle, allow the melted wax to completely cover the top of the candle before extinguishing. If possible, allow the candle to burn for at least an hour.
  • If your candle has a lid, do not smother the flame with the lid to extinguish, instead blow the flame out and allow the smoke to fully evaporate before covering with the lid.
  • Extinguish flames if excessive smoke or intense flames are present.
  • Before relighting the candle, trim to the wick to ¼ inch.
  • Do not use your candle if less than ½ inch of wax remains. This can cause your jar to explode.
  • Avoid leaving your candle in direct sunlight, as this may cause color fading.
  • Keep candle free to debris and other items at all times.

I've always had a deep love for candles. Today, I am only slightly ashamed to admit that I've spent an insane amount of money on candle products over the years. Lighting a candle (or four) became my relaxation ritual, as I found them incredibly soothing and calming. I was drawn to the combination of candles and cleanliness, which created an emotional connection and, embarrassingly, led to a massive collection of candles!

After reviewing my credit card statement and enduring a few judgmental remarks from my son, I decided to embark on a journey to learn how to make my own candles. Through this adventure, I stumbled upon a not-so-fragrant truth: most store-bought candles are hiding toxic secrets; they contain carcinogens! This discovery deepened my desire to master the complicated science of candle-making.

Simultaneously, I completed a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with the goal of becoming a therapist for underserved populations. As I learned about mindfulness and self-care, I began to incorporate them into my candle-making process. The merger of these two ideas, improving positive mental health outcomes and the art of candle-making, is where Scentsational Encounters was born. Who knew that a desire for cancer-free air and a penchant for tranquility could lead to this aromatic journey?

I look forward to meeting you all - both personally and virtually!

Scentsationally yours,

  • Simply unscrew the bamboo lid and use the supplied dropper to transfer your custom fragrance into the glass bottle. Once full, replace the cap but do not tighten too hard.
  • We recommend hanging the air freshener or placing it somewhere stable. Since the fragrance contains oil, it can become messy if it spills over.
  • The air freshener operates similarly to a reed diffuser. As the scent evaporates, the bamboo lid soaks in the fragrance and releases it into the air.
  • Depending upon the environment, the bamboo lid may become dry and less fragrant. Simply shake the bottle or tilt upright to allow fragrance to soak into the bamboo lid.

Nothing! Our products are non-toxic and contain high-quality ingredients. The unscented room spray is safe enough to be applied to your skin! The added fragrance should not irritate your skin (everyone is different) and is safe enough to spray anywhere!

Please do not spray on or near your animals. Some scents (such as peppermint and cinnamon) can be harmful to pets and should not be sprayed in their area.

There are many answers to this question, but the most common reasons are:

Your candle does not utilize a lid. Most of us are accustomed to visiting one of major retail stores, lifting the candle lid and smelling a strong fragrance. Utilizing a lid simply traps the scent but does not affect the fragrance of your candle as it burns. The fragrance is bound to the molecules of the wax as it cools, so once you light your candle, the aroma will return!

We only utilize high-quality, non-toxic products. Almost every major “fragrance based retail store” utilizes paraffin wax based candle products. Although paraffin wax is proven to emit fragrance at a much higher rate than other waxes, it is made from petroleum (gasoline, plastic, synthetic materials) and is considered toxic to inhale. We will never subject our customers to this risk.
